Scuba: Kids Camp 2024

The same VBS you know and love!

Monday, July 8 – Friday, July 12 • 8:30am–12pm

Kids Camp is a week-long program that serves as a chance for elementary-aged children to encounter God with less distractions. It is an opportunity for kids to grow closer to the Lord, experience His presence, learn more of His truth, and have fellowship with their peers. Kids will engage in small groups, called crews, that will travel to different venues throughout the day-all focused on one daily truth.

Elementary: 1st-5th Grade – $80 early bird, $100 after June 24
Jr: Kinder in the Fall – Waitlist Only – $60 early bird, $80 after June 24

Kids Camp FAQs

What am I paying for when I sign my child up for Kids Camp?
  1. The cost of food, decorations, curriculum, T-shirts, volunteer costs, etc.
  2. We feel that $20 per day is a reasonable price for such a fantastic program that includes a T-shirt, CD, buddies, and more!
  3. Rocky Peak makes no profit on KIDS CAMP; in fact, the church subsidizes a significant portion of KIDS CAMP each year.
  4. We offer partial scholarships for anyone who asks and can indicate a need.
Why does the price go up after June 24 or at the door?
  1. With such a large program as ours, we encourage everyone to sign up early in order to assign crews and evenly distribute crew team color T-shirts.
  2. It is not unusual when attending popular events to pay a premium if you wait until the last minute, and we have to rush order supplies and pay double for people who sign up past the deadline.
Can my sixth grader volunteer?
  1. Incoming sixth graders have been promoted into Wildlife at the beginning of June, and we strongly encourage new sixth graders to begin participating in our middle school activities this summer. Click here to learn more!
  2. We are so glad your son/daughter loved their years as a camper at KIDS CAMP. We allow a limited number of sixth graders to volunteer, approved on a case-by-case basis, if an approved chaperone is volunteering and the sixth grader is with the chaperone the entire time as a helper.
  3. Sixth graders are too close in age to our campers to be crew leaders on their own.
I do not regularly attend Rocky Peak. How do I sign up to help?
  1. We love the fact that adults and teens want to volunteer for our KIDS CAMP. However, we give priority to our Rocky Peak partners and attendees since they will establish ongoing bonds with the campers.
  2. Anyone who wants to serve and is NOT a regular Rocky Peak attendee needs to be vouched for by a Rocky Peak partner. We need to know that anyone who serves as a shepherd over kids to lead them into a relationship with Jesus has a strong walk himself or herself and shares the same vision and values as Rocky Peak.
  3. We normally check in with our adult and youth leaders to screen our applicants. We require 2 references, at least one that attends Rocky Peak. Please notify us by email with 2 references so we can begin the application process.
Why did the Name Change from VBS to KIDS CAMP?

Well, simply put, we wanted to make the name more accessible and remove any potential barriers for those who may not be familiar with the term “VBS.” But fear not, everything else you know and love about our summer program remains unchanged.

KIDS CAMP continues to be a special place where kids can carve out intentional time daily to grow in their relationship with God. Whether they’ve been attending church for as long as they can remember or are hearing about God for the first time, our goal remains the same – to create a space where the truth of the Bible is communicated, explored, and experienced.

In today’s world, where navigating the definition of “truth” can be challenging, we want KIDS CAMP to be a place where God’s truth is clearly communicated. Our passion is unwavering, and we believe in providing a seamless and easy entry point for kids who don’t regularly attend church, for families unfamiliar with God, and for our RPK kids to be able to invite their neighbors and friends.

While VBS holds a beautiful history (a history a lot of you have been a part of for YEARS!), we’ve discovered that the acronym isn’t as widely understood as it once was, and it has sometimes created confusion. To eliminate any barriers, we’ve decided to call it what it is – KIDS CAMP! It’s a day camp for elementary-aged kids deeply rooted in the truth of the Bible, where the Bible comes alive and kids experience it in new and engaging ways, where they can worship God freely, and know that Christ is at the center of all of it.

So yes, there is a change, but in name only—the purpose remains the same. KIDS CAMP is that same VBS experience you have come to know and love.
